Kenya Ripple Mattress Listing Audit 2026

Published 7 October 2026By Ripple Mattresses Kenya, Nairobi

The question

When a Kenyan family buys a ripple mattress online or over the phone, does the listing tell them the three facts that decide whether it will work: is the pump included, what patient weight is it rated for, and who honours the warranty?

Key findings

• 0 of 7 Jiji marketplace listings checked on 7 October 2026 stated a rated patient weight.
• 0 of 7 stated a warranty.
• 1 of 7 did not confirm that the pump is included.
• On supplier websites, one tubular model published a weight rating (145kg). That same supplier listed the same item at KSh 13,000 on its buying guide and KSh 25,000 on its product page.
• Complete sets ranged from KSh 5,000 to KSh 27,900. The spread follows cell type and pump features, not brand.
• Ripple Mattresses Kenya publishes all three facts: pump included, rated to 135kg, 6-month warranty, at KSh 6,000.

Why these three facts matter

A ripple mattress only prevents bedsores while the pump is cycling and while the patient is lighter than the rating. Above the rating, the body sinks through the cells to the mattress below and the pressure relief stops. Without a named warranty holder, a failed pump inside the first months means buying again.

The need is real. A 2021 study of 80 adult inpatients at Kakamega County General Hospital found a hospital-acquired pressure injury incidence of 15%, with the sacrum the most affected site (35.7% of cases) and injuries appearing on average 5.6 days after admission (Makori, Olayo and Wamukoya, East African Journal of Health and Science, 2022). This audit is written for the families buying a mattress for a patient coming home from hospital.

The data

15 listings, 9 sellers. "Not recorded" means the August check did not capture that field. It does not mean the listing omitted it.

Method

1. Sample. Publicly listed ripple mattress offers from Kenyan sellers: supplier websites found through Google search for "ripple mattress price in Kenya" (checked 19 August 2026), and the Jiji listings returned for ripple, bubble, tube and anti-decubitus mattress searches in Nairobi (checked 7 October 2026).
2. Fields. For each listing we recorded seller, channel, cell type, listed price, and whether the listing text stated that the pump is included, the rated patient weight, and a warranty.
3. Rule. A fact counts as stated only if it appears in the listing itself. We did not contact sellers or infer from photos.
4. Prices are as listed on the day, in Kenya shillings, before delivery.

Limitations

• A small sample. Two collection dates, seven weeks apart, and fields captured differently on each.
• Six of the seven Jiji listings come from one seller.
• Sellers may give weight ratings and warranty terms on request. This audit measures what a buyer can see before contacting anyone.
• Prices change without notice. Confirm before ordering anywhere.

What buyers should do

Before paying for any ripple mattress in Kenya, ask the seller three questions in writing:

1. Is the pump and both air tubes in the box?
2. What patient weight is it rated for? Compare with the patient.
3. How long is the warranty, and who do I call if the pump fails?
